26/01/2013ADI Liguria presents the exhibition “Le sette citta’ e Madunnette laiche”, potteries by Luca Scacchetti

To promote the pottery district to the world out of its own contest through cultural events and according to the design’s rules and language: this is the
ambitious purpose of the “Le sette citta’ e madunnette laiche” exhibition, by Luca Scacchetti, which opens on the 1st of March at the Savona civic art gallery.
Seven Cities, like the number of the “Madunnette” that take shapes from the watercolours that the architect and designer from Milan, Luca Scacchetti, created
taking inspiration from the theme of the imaginary cities of Calvino’s world: cities built on obsessive monothematic repetitions, repeating the same constructive
element to the nth degree.
This is how Ciminiera, Gradonia, Roofiana, Turrina, Arconia, Pilastra and Strambia take shape, the seven cities that thanks to the encounter between
Luca Scacchetti and the pottery-master Tullio Mazzotti become as many “aedicules” in the wake of those that can be found in the area of Albisola.
To the series of seven aedicules hosted at the Savona Civic Art Gallery until the 5th of May, before being moved to the “Oratorio della Passione” in
St. Ambrogio, Milan – open from the 20th of May for two weeks – will be added two more aedicules, which will be exposed at the Festival della Maiolica in
Albisola Marina during the same time as the exhibition.
The seven aedicules will then be placed in some historical buildings in the the litte Liguria town, to join the existing heritage of “Madonnette”.
The exhibition is organized under the control of ADI Liguria and the artistic direction of the Vice-President, Nicolette Negro, the creative direction of
Angelo Dadda (CEO of Looping srl communication agency), and the coordination of Simona Finessi (treasurer and founder of ADI Liguria); the catalogue is enhanced
by the editorial contribution of Luisa Bocchietto (President of ADI) and by the signature of Jean Blanchaert and Philippe Daverio.
An ambitious project – made possible by the patronage and sponsorship of Savona Chamber of Commerce, of Fondazione de Mari, and the councils of Savona and
Albisola Marina – that aims at adding value at an artistic and cultural heritage that means memory and evidence.
